apartment lease [06 Oct 2008|07:40am]

I signed a one year lease for an apartment and a month later I got married to my boyfriend who is in the Army and is stationed 2 1/2 hours away. He deployed last month and we are looking to get out of this lease and into a house with a backyard. He informed me that because we're married now, there shouldn't be an issue with getting out of this lease since he's deployed.

Is there anything saying that since I had the apartment before we married, that I'm stuck here?

mailing overseas [19 Sep 2008|05:31pm]

My husband just deployed and I sent him a package Priority Mail that still hasn't arrived and I just found out it will take 10-15 days to get there. Is there a quicker mailing system?

ball attire [10 Jul 2008|11:02pm]

So...my boyfriend just informed me we have to go to some ball next week. An adjutant ball, I think? I have absolutely NO idea what this involves and not knowing what to wear is an understatement. Can someone please shed some light on what's appropriate? Pictures are welcome! I work with animals and dressing up is completely foreign to me. HELP!

NOTE: I'll be posting deployment questions soon as he's leaving in September.

Pulling out my hair! [26 Jun 2008|08:57pm]

My husband is a reservist. Without giving away specifics, he's going overseas, and we're in the countdown.

But I am pulling out my hair! He can't get any answers about anything from his unit. Not specific dates about when he's leaving or even for mobilization. I have no idea how to give him some of his paycheck, but still have the majority deposited into our USA account so I can pay bills. How do I contact him while he's gone, especially if there's an emergency? What about my health insurance? It's through his civilian job -- will I be able to keep it while he's gone? If I get insurance through the army, will I be able to use my local doctors (the nearest military base is nearly two hours away).

I know that some details they keep close to the vest for security reasons. I can respect that. But I'm not counting months anymore. I'm counting weeks. My husband is leaving, which is stressful enough, as most of you know. But to not have any answers makes it scarier.

What do I do? Is there someone else in the military, not of his unit, that I could be asking?

Hey Ladies [07 Jun 2007|07:00am]

So I can see while I was gone for a long time this community hasn't been very active :( Well I am back now so hopefully I can get it movin again. Our internet in Germany was a big mess so we basically have been with very little until now cause a neighbor that just moved in is letting us steal. We leave here in 6 days. I am so excited. Mike came back from a 15 month extended deployment in Febuarary. It's been a little bit of adjustment living together since half of our relationship has been away from each other. We go on PCS leave for 30 days before heading to Fort Eustis Virginia. Where rumor has it he may deploy for a 3rd time even though his dwell time is only 4 months!!! We are making some emails and calls to see what we can do. His other 2 deployments were back to back so this would be 3 in a row.. ruin my life. But thats Military life for ya. We got to see Toby Keith for free in concert he is soo good to Soldiers he always comes over here to Germany and performs for the troops and spouses who have just gotten back from deployments. We have also been getting some traveling in while here in Europe. We went to Ireland, Rome, Amsterdam, and Czech. Since he just got home and didn't have a passport in time we didn't have the chance to go to Paris. I am bummed. :( But oh well we can always come back when we are old or something lol. Alright well thats the update for now! I may post some pics of his homecoming and stuff later! Gotta go to the commissary for now!!

My name is Brittney and I'm new to the group.  My boyfriend's name is Bobby and he just left of OCS for the Marines.  He is in the Charlie Company 2nd Platoon for the summer and I already miss him more than words.  We have been together about a year and going strong.  We met, funny story, through an ex-boyfriend! =) I live in Orlando and so did he, his next actual residency will be with the Marines based somewhere or maybe with me depending on what happens....we'll see.  We don't really have a song and we've talked about that!  As of right now, if anyone has one I can borrow while he's gone....let me know! =)

military ball [28 Apr 2007|12:11am]
what exactly is a military ball? I get that it's an event/dance, but what's the purpose? what occasion is it and when do they occur?

if you've been to one, mind telling me your experiences (what goes on at them, formal wear, etc.)

Help find him [22 Nov 2006|05:19am]

From a fellow military wife. She and her son are in Washington, her husband is stationed here at Ft. Campbell. Please repost and pass along till he is found.

November 18
My husband Jesse has been missing now for about 48 hours. He missed his 2nd day of work today in processing from Iraq and is now considered AWOL. He supposedly went to the hospital yesterday to the social work clinic for an appointment at 4pm. Who knows if he actually WENT though and the clinics are closed on weekends. The military police are looking for him, too. He has not tried to use his debit card and his car is in the same spot as it was 2 days ago. I am VERY worried about him so PLEASE pray that he is okay. I am worried he is having some kind of post traumatic stress disorder problem or something like that because I don't think he would do this...I have exhausted all my resources and don't know what else to do except wait. Please just keep him in your thoughts. I would be lost without him and Jessiah keeps asking for Daddy. I can't even bear to listen to him. I don't know if I am strong enough to do this. Please pray that God will give me strength. Thank-you all...

November 19
My husband, Jessiah is now listed as a missing person on the national database. He still has not made any phone calls from his cell phone, not used his debit card, he still has not gone home, he doesn't have his car or any clothes, and doesn't have any credit cards to his name. The last anyone saw of him was him getting in a cab. Him and his friend Kyle had rented a hotel room less than half mile away, so Kyle was going to walk him there. When they walked out of the club though, there was a taxi already there ready to leave with some people they didn't know. Kyle asked the cab driver if he could give Jesse a ride across the street, and he said yes, so Jesse got in. That's the last anyone has seen or heard from him. Please PLEASE keep praying. We are doing all we can and are constantly on the phone trying to contact different people. We have emailed our senators and representatives, as Jesse's chain of command isn't helping me at ALL and think he is just hiding. My gut tells me that something is really wrong though. It has been 63 hours as of right now. He was SO incredibly happy...He wouldn't do this...Please pray!!!!!

Most of you on my friends list I speak to quite frequently and some of you are very dear friends of mine. Now I am banking on that friendship as I am in need. My friend Jessiah has gone missing, it has been 5 days now and there is no sign of him anywhere. He has recently come home from Iraq, and we fear he may be suffering some post-traumatic stress syndrome or something. He has a wife, who is the sweetest girl you will ever meet, and a young son, who are both in Washinton right now and pretty much powerless to do anything down here. He has not used his cell phone or credit cards, his car is parked in the same spot it has been in......we are in fear of his life. He was last seen leaving Kickers, which is in a pretty bad area of town and right by the river. He has been listed on the National Missing Persons Database and yesterday his case was assigned to a detective. PLEASE HELP US! Go take a look at his profile, his URL is www.myspace.com/jessiahjameson. If anyone has ANY information concerning his whereabouts, no matter how trivial it may seem, please message me and I will give you my contact ...
Much love and appreciation,

For those of you receiving this message who arent on my friends list, I am sorry for the intrusion, but we are at our wits end. Thanksgiving is only days away, and Jessiah Jr. is asking for his daddy. Even if you just took the time to read this, it is much appreciated.

Worried: he's sick and overseas [16 Oct 2006|08:57pm]

Got to see him for the first time on a webcam the other day. I THOUGHT I would be so happy to see him... But he looked like he was going to die! I couldn't bare to look at him. He kept holding his head in his hands, and I kept asking him what was wrong, and he said he was dizzy and nauseous. I told him to go lay down. But he said no, he wanted to talk to me. I almost got off the computer with him, but I couldn't just do that to him. He said he was going to go to the doctor yesterday, and I haven't gotten a phonecall or anything. I hope he is okay. I'm literally worried sick. Know that knot you get in your stomach when you are worried about something? I feel totally horrible. I hope that no phonecall means he is getting his rest and it doesn't mean he got worse. I just want him home where I can look after him and take care of him. He said he wants to go active after his deployment if he doesn't get AGR (did I get that right?) I'm just worried because he is getting so beat up over there. He is always timidly telling me that he got hurt. Sorry for the long post, I would have put it under an LJ cut if I knew how. sorry girls. x-posted almost everywhere.

Myspace question lol... [12 Oct 2006|10:26am]

Looking for a song to put on my myspace page. My whole page is pretty much a dedication to my boyfriend. But I don't know what song to put on my page. I know some of you girls MUST have a myspace page. I want it to be a love song. Any suggestions? I know that there is a somewhat country song out there that deals with the military and has people talking over the song saying how much they miss their loved ones and such. if you get my drift. If you know what song I am talking about, tell me the name and artist, please!!! But if you have any suggestions, please, tell me! Sorry if I broke any unspoken rules of livejournal about talking about myspace. lol. x-posted

Phonecalls during deployment [11 Oct 2006|06:57pm]

For those of you who have a boyfriend who is or was deployed overseas, how often did he call you? I feel kind of weird, he is kind of calling me a lot, and I can tell when he is calling me he is tired. I tell him to only call me when he can, but he tells me it keeps him in good spirits and that he wants to hear my voice. How should I feel about this? I mean, I LOVE it when he calls, don't get me wrong. I just feel bad when he calls me and he is all tired and stuff like that. X-posted.

New to the group! [10 Oct 2006|12:12am]

Filling out the newbie form!

1) Hi! my name is Erin
2) His name is Darren
3) We are currently dating, but he said to me that he is going to propose to me in May. We are so bad at keeping things secret!
4) I'm 22, he is 23
5) I'm from Bergen County, NJ
6) He is in Iraq right now
7) Wow, this is a touchy subject... He is an ex, but we got back together. If you combine the time we have been together all together it has been several months.
8) No song yet, but there is this one song by Train that we both seem to like. "When I Look to the Sky" another one, by Train, "Get to Me." We always talk about that one on the phone, because we just want to be with each-other right now.

I really love my soldier. I can't wait to be his wife. May (his 2 week leave from Iraq) can't seem to come quickly enough. I'm really excited about something and thought I would share! I'm getting him this military ring for christmas. It's from Zales, it's a little pricey ($200) but I don't care, I would do anything for my baby. And it is absolutely gorgeous. It is Siladium (a better stainless steel) with an Onyx stone (around the onyx stone it says Unites States Army) , and it has an american flag with his name on one side, and on the other side, it is going to have the army insignia with the word courage written above it. And on the inside of the ring the inscription is going to read "I love my soldier" Just thought I would share. If anyone is interested in seeing the ring, just go to the zales website and search for "military" Thanks for reading! Glad to be part of the group, hope to talk to you all soon!

has anyone ever thought about joining the army because their boyfriends did? i dont mean like.... so you can travel and live together and do the same stuff because obviously, that would never happen in reality. But.... i had never seen like... military life before i started dating Tim. nobody in my family was ever in the military so like... i never considered it as a choice after high school. Now.... i'm really smart so i plan on going to college and majoring in something, but lately i've been feeling like... i wish i had something specific that i wanted to do in life, some passion. But i dont. i have no idea what i want to do. And i've realized that i dont want a 9-5 job sitting in a cubicle in some office. I want to DO something, i just dont know what. And i dont want to end up going through college in some major and end up at a minimum wage job. I went and visited Florida State University today and i'm just trying to figure out what im going to do after my senior year. I was just looking on the ROTC page because i've really become interested in the kind of stuff Tim does in the Army. He tells me about all the stuff they do and it sounds like so much fun. Even basic training sounds like fun to me. But i dont want to do active duty or even reserves because it would make Tim and I's relationship so much harder than it already is.

Has anyone on here ever done ROTC or even army reserves? i think i read on the website that you can take basic ROTC as an elective in college before actually signing a contract to be an officer once you graduate. anyone have any info?

thanks :-)    just trying to get my life in order lol
